Amp’s ChatGPT-linked subscription is primarily a routing and billing integration, not access to a catalog of every model Amp supports.
With a linked ChatGPT subscription, Amp’s built-in modes are routed approximately as follows:
| Amp function |
Model used with ChatGPT linked |
| Low |
GPT-5.6 Terra |
| Medium |
GPT-5.6 Sol |
| High agent |
GPT-5.6 Sol |
| High oracle/reviewer |
GPT-5.6 Sol |
| Thread reader |
GPT-5.6 Terra |
| Code review |
GPT-5.6 Terra |
These OpenAI-backed calls are charged against the linked ChatGPT subscription rather than Amp credits, subject to the usage limits of the ChatGPT plan. [1][3][S4]
What is not included:
- Ultra mode remains on Claude Fable and uses Amp credits.
- Non-OpenAI models, such as Claude or GLM models used through other routes, are not automatically covered.
- Plugin or custom modes continue to use whatever model they specify.
- Linking ChatGPT does not provide unrestricted access to every OpenAI model or make the routed models independently selectable in a model playground.
The exact assignments may change as Amp updates its routing; some Amp pages or older descriptions may show different model names. The important practical distinction is that linking ChatGPT covers Amp’s built-in Low, Medium, and High OpenAI routes, while Ultra and other non-covered routes remain Amp-credit usage. [1][2]
